The Greatest Pie on Earth
This pie has always had me starstruck, and I don't even like pie, especially apple pie. Mostly just any dessert with warm fruit, however there is always an exception to the rule, and this pie is that exception. This is Austin's mom recipe, and I just dearly love it. As you can tell in the pictures below, I'm enjoying the goodness. I'll leave the recipe below, because I know you're dying to start baking. This pie is perfect for Thanksgiving.
Dress: Trend Shoes: Sam Edelman (These boots are on sale...RUN.) Lipstick: NYX
Pie Crust
(Makes ten crust's so you can half it or quarter it.)
Mix until like cornmeal:
5 LBS (I put 5 cups the first time)
2 T. Salt
1 3lb Can Shortening
Add:
3 cups cold water
Divide into 10 rolls. Wrap in plastic wrap and then foil. Freeze, and use within 12 months.
Apple Pie Filling
4 - 5 tart apples, peel, core slice
1/4 - 1/2 c. Water
3/4 - 1c. Sugar
1 - 2 T. Flour
1/2 - 1t. Cinnamon
1/8t. Salt
1 T. Lemon Juice
2 T. Butter
Steam apples in water until transparent. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle 1/2 mix over bottom of pasty. Lift apples out of water and put into crust. Put 1/2 C. Liquid (from cooking the apples) over cinnamon and apples. Put other half of dry sugar over apples. Sprinkle lemon juice and dot with butter. Put top crust on. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 for 30 minutes.
